Renowned South Indian actress Nayanthara has made a heartfelt request to her fans, asking them to refrain from calling her “Lady Superstar” and instead address her simply as “Nayanthara.” The actress shared this message through a post on her social media platforms, expressing her desire for a more personal connection with her admirers.
Known for her iconic roles in films like Ghajini, Bigil, and Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal, Nayanthara has carved a special place in the hearts of cinema lovers. Her journey began in 2003 with her debut in the Malayalam film Manassinakkare, and since then, she has risen to become one of the most celebrated actresses in the South Indian film industry. However, despite the immense affection and admiration she has received, the actress has chosen to steer away from titles, including “Lady Superstar,” which her fans and the media have often used to honour her.
In her emotional message, Nayanthara acknowledged the love and support of her fans, writing: “I am deeply grateful for the love and success I’ve received throughout my career, and I hope this note finds you all in great health and spirits. Your unwavering support has been vital to my journey, whether you’ve celebrated my achievements or stood by me in challenging times.”
She further added, “Over time, many of you have lovingly referred to me as ‘Lady Superstar,’ a title I truly appreciate. However, I humbly request that you simply call me ‘Nayanthara.’”
The actress elaborated on the meaning of her name, stating: “The name Nayanthara holds a very special place in my heart. It defines who I am—not just as an actress, but as a person. Titles and accolades are meaningful, but sometimes they can create a distance between the artist and the audience, overshadowing the true essence of the work we share.”
Nayanthara, whose birth name is Diana Mariam Kurian, adopted the stage name Nayanthara early in her career, with Manassinakkare director Sathyan Anthikad suggesting the name. Through this request, the actress emphasized her preference for a simpler, more authentic bond with her fans, encouraging them to focus on her craft rather than titles.
